WACO, TX — The Waco Woolly Wranglers are proud to announce the hiring of Waco native Patrick Cootware as the team’s Head Coach, ushering in a new era of hometown leadership and community-driven baseball.

Born and raised in Waco, Cootware brings a deep-rooted connection to the city along with a passion for developing players both on and off the field. Currently serving as a coach and teacher in a school district just outside of Waco, he has built a reputation for leadership, mentorship, and a strong commitment to fundamentals.

“This opportunity is a dream come true,” said Cootware. “To lead this organization in my hometown means everything to me. Waco is a special place, and I’m incredibly grateful and honored to be a part of building something meaningful here.”

Cootware envisions a team defined by competitiveness, discipline, and respect for the game. His philosophy centers on strong fundamentals and playing the game the right way, values he believes will resonate with both players and fans.

“When I think about a successful team, I see a group that competes every day, executes the fundamentals, and respects the great game of baseball,” he added. “Those are the standards we’ll set from day one.”

Beyond the field, Cootware is focused on creating a memorable experience for players and fans alike. He aims to build a culture that showcases Waco’s character while fostering an atmosphere that leaves a lasting impact.

“What excites me most is the opportunity to show off Waco and how great of a place it is,” said Cootware. “We want to create an environment at the ballpark—and within the team—that players and fans will remember for a long time.”

Under Cootware’s leadership, the Woolly Wranglers are committed to becoming a source of pride for the Waco community.

“I want Waco to be proud of this team,” he said. “We want people talking about how we play the game the right way, doing the little things right, both on and off the field.”

The Waco Woolly Wranglers look forward to the upcoming season with Cootware at the helm, as the organization continues to build a team and culture that reflects the heart of Waco.
